QUEENSBURY – John W. Gardner Jr., 80, of Fitzgerald Rd., passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at his home with his family by his side.
Born in Schenectady on February 11, 1935, he was the son of John W. and Margaret M. (Burns) Gardner.
Following high school he attended Hudson Valley Tech School.
In 1956 John was drafted into the United States Army, serving two years until his honorable discharge in 1958.
On May 3, 1958 he married Connie M. Toomer at Christ the King Church in Albany, N.Y.
As owner of the Glen Drive Inn Theater he loved his work there and did so until he was 77 years old. Being in the entertainment business was very satisfying for him and he enjoyed seeing everyone having a great evening at the theater.
John had many other hobbies as well including boating, photography and astronomy.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Constance; three children, Cherrie Miller, John W. Gardner III, and Brett A. Gardner; four grandchildren, Ben, Emily, Sarah, and Elizabeth Miller; and a brother, William Burns Gardner.
Calling hours will take place Friday, October 2 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.
A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m., at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joseph Busch, pastor of Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation, officiating.
Burial will take place following the services at Pine View Cemetery, Quaker Rd.
