Obituary

ATHOL --- John William Lange, 59, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 4, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on December 25, 1965, in Bethpage, NY to Barry L. Lange, Sr. and Patricia (Schoales) Lange.

John was a very loving son, brother, and uncle, and a friend to many. He was especially caring towards the elderly. Not only did he help them with many tasks, John took the time to chat and visit. He also enjoyed playing cards and games with his Grandma, Dorothy Schoales, and held a special place in his heart for his Foxy Grandma, Ursula Taylor.

John had a lot of friends and was the life of the party. His oldest childhood friends were Mike and Joe Clifford and Mikey Preston. John loved nature and the outdoors. Some of his favorite hobbies and interests included camping, fishing, boating, skiing, hockey and cooking. He also did some acting and singing.

John graduated from Glens Falls High School in 1984. Shortly after, he joined the Navy and became a helicopter search and rescue swimmer. Later he moved back home to be closer to his family and friends and became a truck driver for WalMart.

John was predeceased by his father, Barry L. Lange, Sr.; stepfather, Eben T. Lange; his four grandparents; uncle, Ward Lange; and his beloved aunts Mary Lou and Susie.

John leaves behind his mother, Patricia (Schoales) Lange; sister, Christine Lange Wiegert; brother, Barry L. Lange, Jr. (Karen); nieces and nephews, Michele, Kimberly, Barry III, Stephanie, Tricia, and Deandré; uncles, Michael (Richie) and Timmy (Lucille); also his many cousins who he loved very much; and his dog, Millie.
