QUEENSBURY -- John W. McCauley, 91, went to be with the Lord Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014 at the Albany Stratton V.A. Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 7, 1923 in North Creek, to Jack McCauley and Iona McLaughlin. He lived his childhood in North Creek, many of those years with his grandmother Clara McLaughlin.
John entered the U.S. Army during WWII and fought in Italy where he was seriously injured. After the war he attended college and then Albany Law School. He had a law practice in Glens Falls for many years.
John had a passion for the outdoors, hunting, and the Adirondacks, though his true enjoyment was hunting for all forms of chocolate treats.
He was predeceased by his parents, his step-father, Melville VanDusen, and his brother, Murray McCauley.
He is survived by his brothers, Jim McCauley of Watertown, N.Y. and Tom McCauley of Washington State; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins who he had a very close relationship with.
A committal service, with military honors, will take place Friday, Dec. 12, at 12 p.m., at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville, with the Rev. Nick Tebordo officiating.
The family would like to thank the staff at the V.A. for their wonderful care during John's stay. The doctors, nurses and aides; you were all so good to John.
