SOUTH GLENS FALLS ---John Henry Steady, 86, of South Glens Falls, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018.

Born June 24, 1931 in Island Pond, VT, he was the son of the late Leo Joseph and Mary (Turgeon) Steady.

John married Jane Helen Munger on September 11, 1950.

He was a lifelong member of American Legion, VFW, and the Eagles Club.

John worked at Chase Bag for 35 years, then worked as a cook at Washington County Correctional Facility, where he then retired from.

He enjoyed camping, calling BINGO at St. Michael's Church, and volunteering at Moreau Community Center for many years. He also volunteered at St. Mary's and St. Michael's Church.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his wife, Jane; and his siblings, Gloria Steady, Francillia Deucette, Marie Basil, Francis Steady, and Leo Steady.

Those left to cherish his memory are Joseph Orlow and Michael Alund, his extended family and longtime caregivers.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday, July 16, at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Church, 80 Saratoga Ave, South Glens Falls, NY 12803, with the Rev. Joseph Manerowski officiating.

Interment with military honors will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
