John L.
Tennant
Mar 22, 1947 — Nov 2, 2023
WARRENSBURG --- John L. Tennant, 76, known to many people as Johnny, "Papa," "Dad," "Uncle John," and "Pepa," went into the Lords arms up the stairway to Heaven on Thursday, November 2, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Gertrude (Crandall) Prosser and Robert Tennant Sr. and his stepfather, John "Jake" Prosser.
In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by a granddaughter, Samantha "Sam" Smith; grandson, James "JD" Smith; stepson, Timmy Moffitt; two sisters, Marsha and Brenda; two brothers, Bob and Denny; also his first wife, Yolanda Frasal and third wife, Sandra (Westcott) Tennant.
Those left to cherish his memory are his lifelong partner and companion of 23 years, Sue Hopkins; his former wife, Patricia "Pat" Tennant; daughters, Kim, Michelle, Leona, Robyn and Stacey; his son, John; his grandchildren, Jessica, Bryanna, Larryssa, Danielle, Gabrielle, Cahner and Ryan; great grandchildren, Emmalee, Charlotte, Aiden, Lil' D, and Jasper; nieces, nephews; his sisters, Shelley, Susie, Patty, and their families; and a brother, Clint and his family.
John enjoyed going to Stewarts for his daily cup of coffee and playing his numbers, going fishing with grandkids and great grandkids. He taught all of his nieces and nephews, grandkids and great grandkids, "The Snow Worm song."
He was a logger for C & B Logging Co. He did a lot of odd jobs for a lot of people, from shoveling snow to raking leaves.
He enjoyed having a cold beer with family and friends listening to the good ol' country music and playing the spoons. He also really enjoyed going for long countryside car rides and going to BINGO with Sue once in a while.
John touched the lives of a lot of people, young and old, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone that asked. His favorite saying for grandkids and great grandkids was "Later Dude" and "Love You" for his friends.
Get it done, Tennant.
Friends are invited to join the family Monday, November 13, from 2 to 2:45 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home. We will be having a brief ceremony at 2:45 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Rona Williams speaking, John's neighbor.
He will be laid to rest at a later date at Warrensburg Cemetery.
