Obituary

Jose Luis Becerril passed away surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, July 11, 2024. He was born on June 20, 1969, in Mexico City, Mexico to Jose Guadalupe and Maria Carmen Becerril. His family emigrated from Mexico to the United States, and he spent his early life growing up in Chestertown, New York with his three sisters and four brothers. They worked together as a family to make a living entertaining people and making them smile.

He spent much of his life in Florida and made a living working in the hospitality industry, bringing laughter to all the people he met while making countless, lifelong friends who will also cherish his memory. Some of his most precious moments were the day he first became a father, the day he was given a son, and the day he achieved his dream of getting his associate degree in Criminal Justice. That day we celebrated him and only him and he was filled with overwhelming joy. Other moments that brought him happiness were spent with his mother, building sandcastles on the beach with his kids, golfing with his son or brother, playing with his nieces and nephews, and singing and dancing with his daughter. He always said that his pride and joy were his two children that he loved more than anything, but he had so much love to give and also loved his family and friends from the bottom of his heart.

Jose, who went by his middle name Luis, was called many names: "Daddy," "Louie," "Pookie," "Luisa," "King Luis," "Uicho," "Uncluey," "Weezy," and "Lou," (to name a few) by those who loved him whole heartedly for the man he was. He was a self-proclaimed "hardhead", but who he really was, was a man who wanted to make everyone feel that they were the most important person. He wanted nothing more than to make someone laugh when they were hurting, to make people feel included and seen, to show you that he was listening when you spoke about the things that made you happy. He had big emotions that had a way of driving you crazy, but he could fill your heart with so much joy.

Luis is predeceased by his sister, Lulu Becerril.

Those left to cherish his memory are his two children, his daughter and "baby girl," Kennedy Becerril and his son and "baby boy," Kaden Becerril; parents, Maria Carmen Becerril and Jose Guadalupe Becerril; sisters, Maria (Wayne) Gordon, and Patty (Dave) Becerril-Drapikowski; brothers, Juan (Sandra) Becerril, Mario (Joanna) Becerril, Valente (Shelly) Becerril, and Carlos (Dawna) Becerril; and all his nieces and nephews of whom he adored.
