BOLTON LANDING --- Joseph DeLorenzo, 70, of Bolton Landing, passed away peacefully, Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014 at Glens Falls Hospital, with his family by his side, after a brief battle with cancer.
Born May 4, 1943 in Lodi, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Dominick and Julia (Gangi) DeLorenzo.
Joe grew up in Lodi, and started his life with Lois Tramontano on October 19th 1963. In Lodi Joe owned his own wholesale and retail fish store. In the fall of 1972 Joe and Lois decided to relocate their young family to Bolton Landing where he worked as a marine mechanic at Chics Marina for over 35 years.
Upon retirement Joe became very active in the B.P.O.E. Lodge No. 81 of Glens Falls where he held many offices and was Exalted Ruler from 2009-2010. He enjoyed spending time on their many fundraising and community service events and made lifelong friendships.
An avid outdoorsman, Joe loved to fish, golf and hunt. His favorite place in the world was his hunting camp in Indian Lake where he would spend countless hours with his closest friends. Throughout the years one of his greatest joys was preparing the traditional Christmas Eve Italian 7 Fish dinner and opening his home to friends and family to enjoy his passion.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was predeceased by an infant son, Ronald, and a brother, Andre DeLorenzo.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 50 years Lois; son, Steven DeLorenzo and daughter-in-law, Tammie, of Bolton Landing; daughter, Lisa Wildermuth and son-in-law, Doug, of Queensbury; his devoted dog, Mickey; and his five most favorite people in the world his adoring grandchildren, Marie, Madeline Jo, Mason, Megan and Matthew. Also very special to Joe were his sister, Judy (Pat) Scott; sister-in-law, Nancy DeLorenzo; brother, Dominick (Diane) DeLorenzo; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Calling hours will be held from noon to 2 and 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury.
The B.P.O.E Lodge No. 81 will conduct a Lodge of Sorrow at 6 p.m., followed by a funeral service at the funeral home, with the Rev. Harold Shippey, retired United Methodist Minister, officiating.
