Joseph F.
Giordano
Feb 25, 1944 — Sep 21, 2023
QUEENSBURY --- Joseph Francis Giordano (Joe), 79, passed away on September 21, 2023, peacefully in his home in Glens Falls, NY.
Joe is survived by his sons Michael (Maria) and Robert (Stacy), daughter Jill (Liam), as well as a host of grandchildren; Kassandra (Kenny), Cameron, Michael, Francesca and Alison, and great-grandchildren Kathryn and Knightly, his brother Jimmy (Maria) and sister Rosemarie (Edward).
He was married to his late wife Connie, his high school sweetheart for 56 years. They raised their 3 children on Long Island and later moved to the Adirondacks almost 20 years ago, fulfilling Joe's love of the outdoors. He was often seen fishing with his family on their boat in Lake George or hunting trips with his sons and grandsons.
Joe had a long and successful career as an Electrical Engineer of 47 years at Con Edison, where he started when he was just 19 years old. He was active in the local volunteer fire department of Bellerose Village, Long Island and served as Fire Chief for several years. Joe loved to socialize with friends at the Queensbury Elks Lodge where he was a member and could be frequently seen hitting the dance floor.
In 2016 he was fortunate enough to find his half brothers and sister from his birth father; Richard, Ronnie, and Donna. Although they hadn't met until then, they never skipped a beat and their frequent phone conversation finished with "I love you brother."
Joe always made people feel welcome and appreciated and there was never a favor too big. You didn't have to finish a sentence of "can you help with…" and he was already in the car. His generous and good nature led his family to affectionately nickname him "The Mayor '' as he knew everyone in town, and if he didn't, he would be sitting at their table in a restaurant by the end of the evening and chatting as if they'd been lifelong friends. He was kind and thoughtful and all the things that make someone truly missed and loved.
Calling and condolence hours for our beloved Joe will be held at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette Street, Queensbury on Saturday, September 30th, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.
A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Tony Childs officiating.
