CAPE CORAL, FL --- Joseph B. Mondella, 85 of Cape Coral, FL, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012 at his son's home in Queensbury, NY surrounded by his family.
Born March 20, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY he was the son of the late Alfred Mondella and Maria DelGuadio Mondella.
Joe enlisted in the United States Army on June 4, 1945 serving during World War II, and being honorably discharged Nov. 1, 1946.
On Aug. 12, 1950, Joe married Mary Pellegrino, who became the mother of his children and passed away in 1969.
Joe married again on July 4, 1971 to Dolores Tesoriero of Staten Island, NY where he resided with her two sons and his three children as one happy family.
As a Longshoreman, Joe worked many long days and nights on the Brooklyn Piers for the International Longshoremen Association, retiring after many years of dedicated service.
Some of his recent enjoyments were his woodworking, train collection, model car collection, bowling and his many friends and family.
In addition to his parents and wife, Joe was predeceased by a sister, Susan Mangiamelli and her husband Al, one brother, Frank Mondella and his wife, Janet and one brother-in-law, Tony Boriello.
Survivors include two daughters, MaryAnn Fattorusso and her husband Larry, of Peachtree City, Georgia, and Cynthia Ruggiero and her husband, Kenneth, of Staten Island, NY; three sons, Joseph Mondella and his wife, Natalie, of Queensbury NY, John Tesoriero and his wife, Tina, of Staten Island, and Phillip Tesoriero and his wife, Alison, of Chatham, NJ; 12 grandchildren: Joseph, Christopher, Matthew and Stephanie Mondella, Lawrence and Stephen Fattorusso, Christina and John Tesoriero, Adrianna and Andrew Ruggiero, and Anthony and Ava Tesoriero; one great-grandson, Christopher P. Mondella; one sister, Louise Boriello of Brooklyn; one brother, Ralph Mondella and his wife, Connie, also of Brooklyn; several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his special companion of sixteen years, Geraldine Arseniadis of Cape Coral, FL.
