CONNECTICUT --- Joyce E. Greene, 64, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at Glens Falls Hospital.
Born December 22, 1958, in Granville, NY, she was the daughter of Vernon and Anita (Brooks) Greene.
Joyce was so full of life before illness took it from her. Hard work made her love and appreciate the calm, relaxing things life had to offer. Camping, laying out by a pool listening to music, or her favorite place to be, on a beach with her toes in the warm sand.
Her early years were spent waitressing, serving an 8 top with no help, plates stacked to her shoulders. She made hard work look easy. She relocated to Connecticut and became a daycare provider for 15 plus years. So many children were raised in her home, some from birth, all of them treated as she would her own. All the tears were wiped, all the boo boos kissed, and plenty of hugs to go around. The last decade plus was spent as a substance abuse counselor. Joyce earned her Masters degree to help fix the people of the world that everyone is quick to turn their backs on, those easily cast aside. She believed trauma broke people and everything that's broken deserves a chance to be fixed.
Like a puzzle with a missing piece, the world doesn't look right without her in it. Her wishes were to not hold services, but her family will have a celebration of life at a later date. All are welcome to attend.
Joyce was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Myrtle and Myron Greene; maternal grandparents, Effie and Clois Brooks; her aunts, Mary Conners and Daisy Morey; her uncle, Robert Brooks; and her cousin Rebbecca "Scooter" Armstrong.
Those left to cherish her memory are her parents, Vernon and Anita Greene; her daughter, Tara (Jeremy) Stevens; her sons, Jake (Nikki) Ryan and Sean Bray; her grandson, Dylan Stevens; her sisters, Nettie (Ray) Bodenweiser and Patricia Hafner; her brothers, Ed (Tanya) Greene, Keith Greene, and Brian (Tonia) Greene; her niece, Anna Craft; and a few others she claimed as her own, Andrew Schultz, Sarah (Bobby) Fellows, and their two beautiful girls, Kayleigh and Brooke Roy; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Donations in her honor can be made to Partnership to End Addiction at https://drugfree.org/
Condolences may be sent directly to Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804, or through www.bakerfuneralhome.com.
