Whitehall --- Judith "Judy" Steves, 72, passed away Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at Glens Falls Hospital.
Born March 17, 1945, in Rutland, Vermont, she was the daughter of the late Grafton W. and Gladys (Brileya) Spaulding. Judy married Earl L. Steves on February 7, 1981, and lived for many years on Rt. 4 in Whitehall where they owned a farm.
Judy graduated from Whitehall High School and School of Nursing at Mary McClellan Hospital.
She worked as a pediatric LPN at Glens Falls Hospital from 1965 to 2010.
Her passion was nursing, but above all, she loved spending time with her children & grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling especially to Hampton Beach, bowling in her younger years, puzzles, gathering with her co-workers from Glens Falls Hospital and spending time at Hovey Pond and Crandall Park.
In addition to her parents, Judy was predeceased by her husband, Earl L. Steves; her brothers Charles Doner, and Warren "Willie", Jack, Jim, and Henry Spaulding; a sister-in-law, Elsie Parker and a brother-in-law, George Steves.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Scott A. Bennett (Denise A. DiResta) of Queensbury, Nick Steves of Whitehall, Gail Mead (Matt) of Granville, Brenda Steves of Granville and Kevin Steves (Paula) of Whitehall; her loving grandchildren: Zachary Bennett, Dylan Bennett, Dr. Christina M. Scanlon, DVM, Stacey Lavin, Amanda Tracy, Fred Williams III, Jason Mead, Ricki Mihulka, Chelsea Dunchus, Cassie Stomski, Brandon Steves and 9-great-grandchildren; a dedicated sister, Betty Mastrovich; and sister-in-law's, Mary Jane Spaulding, Ethel Winning, and Doris Sutherland; a brother-in-law, Ernie Steves; along with several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will take place Tuesday, Jan. 23, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804, and a memorial service following at 4 p.m. by the Rev. Steve Andrews, Pastor of First United Methodist Church of Warrensburg officiating.
At 5 p.m. the family invites you to join them for a Celebration of Life at Elks Lodge #81 on 32 Cronin Rd., Queensbury, NY 12804.
Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, Judy requested in memory donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
