Obituary

GLENS FALLS --- Karl Michael "Mike" Granger, 74, passed away unexpectedly from pneumonia due to Covid-19 on Monday, April 12, 2021 with his loving wife and children by his side.

Born February 18, 1947 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Walter and Marjorie "Shirley" Granger.

Mike graduated from Hudson Falls High School and was later employed as an HVAC technician.

He entered the United States Navy in June 1966 and was honorably discharged from his service to his country in February 1970.

He married Barbara J. Root on October 28, 1967 at Church of the Messiah in Glens Falls.

Mike was an avid hunter and fisherman but above all, he loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Mike was predeceased by his mother- and father-in-law, Rita and George Root; great-granddaughter, Aurora Bombard; and several aunts and uncles.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 53 years, Barbara J. Granger of Glens Falls; children, Kathy Barnes of Glens Falls, and Michael Granger of Lake George; grandchildren, Krystal, Katelyn, and Kara; great-grandchildren, Landon, Julianna, and a baby boy who is due in June; sisters, Debbi Gitto of Glens Falls, and Shirley Cole of Hudson Falls; brother, Tom Granger of Avon, Indiana; uncle, Alan (Ann) Tougas, of Virginia; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and Brandi, his dog and beloved companion.

Calling hours will be private due to the current pandemic.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to doctors, nurses, and staff at Glens Falls VA Clinic and Albany Stratton VA Hospital for their years of compassionate care and support, and Fisher House for all their care during Mike's many hospital stays.
