MALONE and WARRENSBURG-- Kellie Marie Thompson-Brown, 36, formerly of Warrensburg and Malone, and most recently Orange, Massachusetts, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014 at UMass Memorial Hospital with her loving family by her side.
Kellie was born July 15, 1977 at Glens Falls Hospital to David and Marcia (Burt) Thompson.
A graduate from Warrensburg Jr./Sr. High School in 1996, she continued her education at ACC and then went to SUNY Plattsburgh, where she graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and later another Bachelor's Degree in Social Work.
While at ACC she met her future husband, Robert Brown. They married on June 26, 2005, in Schuylerville, N.Y. Together they traveled to various places in the U.S. and eventually moved to Massachusetts so Kellie could achieve her Master's Degree.
Kellie enjoyed volunteering her time at Literacy Volunteers of America in Plattsburgh and participated in Relay for Life while in Malone. Some of her enjoyments were traveling, music, movies, scrapbooking, going out to dinner, spending time with her family, and spending summers at the Saratoga Race Track.
Kellie was employed at Wal-Mart for 11 years in Plattsburgh and most recently in Malone, as a people greeter.
Kellie was predeceased by her grandmother, Katherine Swinton, and her grandparents, Chandler and Helen Thompson.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Brown of Orange, Mass.; her parents, David and Marcia Thompson of Warrensburg; a sister, Shellie Thompson (boyfriend Larry Fournier), of Warrensburg; her brothers, David Thompson II of North Creek and Daniel Thompson of Warrensburg; two nephews, Zachary Belden of Warrensburg and Samuel Bailey of Springfield, Vt.; also her husband's family; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, and her cat, Joan.
Calling hours will be held from 3 to 6 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 16, at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette Street, Queensbury.
A funeral service will immediately follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Flossie Gate Bates officiating.
