Obituary

HUDSON FALLS --- Kelly Mickey-Leon Springer, 57, passed away on May 14, 2025, after a brief illness in Glens Falls, New York, the same city where he was born on March 2, 1968. His life was a vibrant tapestry of joy, humor, and love that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Kelly graduated from the BOCES Special Program at the age of 21 and briefly attended the Community Workshop. Throughout his life, he was supported by a loving family and an extended community that cherished his unique spirit. He found a second home with his ARC and CWI family, where he shared countless adventures and created lasting memories.

Kelly was predeceased by his parents, Robert V. Springer Sr. and Elizabeth Ann "Betty Ann" (Deyette) Springer; his sister Diane; and his brother Danny Springer. He is survived by his devoted family: Robert V. Springer Jr. (Michele), Sherry Marshall (Michael), Jackie McMurry (Joseph), Terry Bigelow (Michael), Candy Huguley (Albert), Andrea Elliott (David), along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews—and all those who were part of his extended ARC and CWI family.

A joyful soul with a mischievous streak, Kelly was known for being a prankster who delighted in surprising others ... With a cap gun in hand—prompting dramatic reactions that brought laughter to everyone around him. His sense of humor was infectious and unforgettable.

Kelly had a deep love for television shows like "Leave It to Beaver," cartoons, police dramas—especially those featuring shootouts and car chases—and anything involving dump trucks or noisy toys. He found delight in holidays and birthdays, particularly when presents were involved—preferably all for him! Shopping trips and garage sales with his ARC-CWI family were among his favorite pastimes.

He also enjoyed helping with laundry in his own special way and had an enduring fascination with flashlights, batteries, beach balls, swimming, and spending time with loved ones. Kelly never missed an opportunity to join a party filled with music, dancing, singing—and bug-catching (though he preferred someone else do the catching). He had a well-known talent for persuading family members into treating him to hot fudge sundaes or milkshakes.

A spiritual soul without denomination, Kelly lived life with open-hearted enthusiasm. He taught those around him about joy in its purest form—through laughter, love, and living fully in each moment.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the ICU nurses and doctors at Glens Falls Hospital for their compassionate care during Kelly's final days. Special thanks go to the staff of 4-West Nursing and PCAs for their kindness and attentiveness to Kelly's needs. A very special thank you is reserved for Dr. Dagastino for showing extraordinary empathy alongside surgical expertise.

Kelly Mickey-Leon Springer will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His memory will continue to bring smiles and warmth to the hearts of many. A Celebration of Life will be held on May 31, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 04:00 PM at American Legion 72 Pearl Street. There will be a small memorial with Family at the Celebration of Life
