QUEENSBURY---Kenneth Chevalier, 87, most recently of The Glen at Highland Meadows passed away March 14, 2018 at home after a long illness.
Born September 7, 1930 in Plattsburgh, he was the son of Andrew and Stella (Woodward)Chevalier.
Ken attended Rouses Point High School, graduating with the class of 1948.
He began working for The Grand Union Company as a part-time employee in the late 1940's and rose through the ranks of leadership, retiring in 1992 as a vice president of the company.
Ken enlisted in the U.S. Army in April 1951 and was stationed at Fort Hood, TX. He was honorably discharged in April 1953.
A man of quiet, but strong faith, Ken had been a parishioner at The Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation in Queensbury since 1964.
An avid boater, Ken enjoyed spending the summer months on Lake George with his family aboard his boat - Papa's Dream. One of his favorite spots on the lake was Speaker Heck Island. In the Fall and Winter, his focus turned to his workshop where he honed his wood carving skills, crafting unique pieces treasured by family and friends.
On December 27, 1951 he married his first wife, Sally Banker in Peru, NY. She passed away in April 1984. He was united in marriage with his second wife, Ann Paska on November 9, 1985 in South Glens Falls, NY, creating a large blended family.
In addition to his parents and first wife, Ken was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Bair and grandsons Christopher Chevalier and Nicolas Brown.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 32 years, Ann (Paska) Chevalier; his sons, Michael Chevalier (Michelle) of Saratoga Springs, Duane Chevalier (Brenda) of Webster, NY, Brian Chevalier (Maureen) of Glens Falls; a daughter, Sara King (Adam)of Rutland, VT; step-sons, David Paska (Joanne) of South Glens Falls and Paul Paska (Denise)of Bradenton,FL; step-daughter, Marie Paska of Cohoes; grandchildren, Ryan Chevalier (Larissa)of Arlington, VA, Bradley Chevalier (Michelle) of Ballston Lake, Laura Landry (Keith) of Glens Falls, Andrea Chevalier of Buffalo, Andre Chevalier of Glens Falls, Michael Chevalier of Glens Falls, Addison King of Bristol, VT, Christine Paska (James Rome) of Valhalla, NY, Julie Prattico(Michael) of Webster, NY, Lisa Siskey (Timothy) of Shawnee, KS, Alex Paska of Montgomery, AL, and Reuben Young of New York, NY; great-granddaughters, Katie Prattico and Hannah Rome, with a third great-granddaughter expected soon; a brother, David Chevalier of Rindge, N.H.; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Calling hours will take place Sunday, March 18, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 LafayetteSt., Queensbury, NY 12804.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, March 19, at 11:30 a.m. at The Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation in Queensbury with the Rev. Joseph Busch officiating.
Interment will follow at Pine View Cemetery.
