Obituary

POTTERSVILLE – Kenneth W. Monroe, 82, of Olmstedville Road, Pottersville, passed away Wednesday morning, June 24, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving children.

Born September 13, 1932 in Glens Falls, he was the son of Kenneth Monroe Sr. and Anna Stevens Monroe.

Ken worked most of his life as a logger, mainly a skidder operator. Those he worked for were Towsley Lumber, Don Fish, Lee TenEyck, John Magee, Fred Bollman, and Ray TenEyck.

He enjoyed hunting and being in the outdoors. In later years he enjoyed visiting with friends in town and watching the traffic as it drove by.

Along with his parents, Kenneth and Anna Monroe; Ken is predeceased by his wife, Evelyn M. Dalaba Monroe; a brother, Charles F. Monroe; great-granddaughter, Verhonica Mae Rayne; and his four legged friend, Bubba.

Survivors include his two daughters, Sandra Ferry of Pottersville and Kelly Wolfe of Pottersville; two sons, Daniel Hayes of Granville and Jerry Hayes of Pottersiville; five grandchildren, Samantha (Joe) Werne, Stephen Ferry, Jennifer (Matt) Graham, Adam Hayes and his companion Emily Barnes, Brina Wolfe and her companion Frank Cavoli Jr. ; seven great-grandchildren, Aubrie, Lucas, Drayven, Evan, Zachary, Violette, Marlie; and a cousin, Madeline Steves.

Calling hours in memory of Kenneth, and his late wife Evelyn, will take place Friday, July 3, 2015 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury.

The family wishes to send special thanks to dear friends Pat McLaughlin, Howard Wallace, Jack Wright, and Fred Wallace for visiting when he could no longer journey out. Also, thank you to Dr. Stoutenburg and the C. R. Wood Cancer Center of Glens Falls.
