Obituary

With deep love and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Kevin Lloyd Holden, a proud military veteran, devoted husband, cherished father, and beloved Opa, who passed away peacefully at home on August 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He was 64.

Born in Glens Falls, New York, on March 29, 1961, Kevin was a man of quiet strength, sharp humor, and unwavering devotion to his family and country. He proudly served in both the United States Army and Navy, enlisting on his 17th birthday—March 29, 1978—and continuing his service with distinction for over 20 years. His military tenure was marked by honor, integrity, and an unshakable sense of duty. In between his service in the military, Kevin continued to serve and protect others through a long and honorable career with the New York State Department of Corrections, retiring after 25 years on August 16, 2016.

Kevin met the love of his life, Ulrike ("Ulli") Holden, on a disco dance floor in Germany on January 22, 1982. Their love story unfolded across continents and years, culminating in their marriage on March 2, 1983. Together, they built a life rooted in laughter, partnership, and unconditional support.

Kevin was a deeply loving and supportive father to his daughters, Christina Freiberger and Deborah Friedler, and a proud father-in-law to Daniel Freiberger and Gerard Friedler. He found immense joy in his role as "Opa" to his four granddaughters, Grace and Amelia Freiberger, and Ava and Aria Friedler, whose energy and laughter filled his heart.

Known for his warmth, wit, and steady presence, Kevin had the rare ability to make friends wherever he went, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the good fortune to know him. He had a deep passion for classic cars, Elvis Presley, puzzles, and the simple peace of Myrtle Beach with his toes in the sand. Whether sharing a joke, fixing something with quiet determination, or enjoying a quiet moment by the water, Kevin brought comfort and joy to those around him.

He will be remembered for his courage, loyalty, humility, and love—for the way he made every room brighter just by being in it, and for the strength and grace with which he lived his life.

Kevin's legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and the countless memories they cherish. He will be deeply missed.
