Obituary

Lauren Stroffolino, 71, beloved mother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at home in Glens Falls, New York, Friday, February 8, 2025.

She was born February 9, 1953, in Orlando, Florida. She was the daughter of Lt. Col. Gerard (Duke) Owen Cleary and Anna Marie Breger Cleary.

Her memory will continue to be cherished by her children, David William Stroffolino and Jacqueline Stroffolino; grandchildren, Aria Spiegel and Thor Spiegel; brother, Jeffrey Cleary (JoAnna) of Dallas, TX; Pamela Barry (Gene) of Sterling, VA; Kim Cleary Sadler (Jay) of Murfreesboro, TN; Charlotte Baratta (Richard) of Merritt Island, FL; plus numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Lauran was raised in a large, Catholic, military family and delighted sharing stories about the family's many adventures overseas and in the United States. She married David Wales Stroffolino in 1977 and they raised their family in Tallahassee, Florida.

She had an abiding love for children and teaching, graduating from Florida State University in 1978 with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. She never did anything halfway, as she applied her love of learning while she raised her children with countless educational and extracurricular opportunities.

Sewing became one of her greatest creative passions as she monogrammed, appliqued, and made numerous incredible items for her family throughout the years.

Lauran was the quintessential hostess for her large extended family, who enjoyed countless vacations to Tallahassee, which included boating, swimming, and fabulous meals at her home. She worked for the Florida Catholic Conference for ten years and then moved to Cape Canaveral after her children were grown. She moved to Glens Falls in 2015 to be closer to her dearly loved grandchildren.

There will be no funeral service; the family is in the process of planning a celebration of Lauran's life at a later date this year. In lieu of donations, cards, or other offerings, please plan to join the family for her celebration of life. For more information or to share memories about Lauran to be included in her celebration of life gathering, contact her sister, Kim Sadler, at ksadler2314@gmail.com.
