Obituary

GLENS FALLS --- Lenox A. Ramsey Jr., 93, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2024. Born on December 19, 1930, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Lenox and Jenny (Merges) Ramsey.

Lenox married the love of his life, Katherine "Chic" Ramsey on January 21, 1951, in Glens Falls and celebrated over 70 years together while living in the Glens Falls Area. Shortly thereafter, Lenox left for basic training in the Army, and he served in So. Korea for 2 years. Upon returning to life as a private citizen, he found work as an electrician and soon after was responsible for window dressing for Fowlers Department Store in downtown Glens Falls. As his family started to grow in the 60's he took up part-time working with fiberglass sculptures at Storytown, USA, and the many bubble gum machines throughout the area, fueling his avid interest in coin collecting. In the late 60's, Len joined the GF Fire Department full time, where he served for 24+ years. The rotating schedule allowed him to also work part-time for Mahoney Notifier, where he remained for over 50 years. In his off hours he could be found perusing the shelves of Crandall Library, attending the weekly auctions at Seeley's Auction Barn, or camping with his family. While attending the 120th anniversary of the Glens Falls Fire Department in 2023, Len was deemed to be the oldest living member of the Glens Falls Fire Department.

In addition to his parents, Lenox was predeceased by his wife, Katherine Ramsey; and son Kent Ramsey.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Karen McGinn (Gene Bowen), his son, Kevin M. Ramsey (Carlene Ramsey) and daughter-in-law Alecia Ramsey; five grandchildren, Kyle McGinn, Nicholas Ramsey (Debra Yoo), Colin McGinn, Jennifer Pouliot (James) and Kellie Ramsey; one great-grandchild Nora Pouliot; and several nieces, nephews, and family friends.

Visitation will take place Wednesday, June 26, 2024 from 11AM to 12PM, at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804, and will allow a share time at the end.

A graveside ceremony with military honors will follow directly after the visitation at the Bay Street Cemetery where his Urn will be laid to rest next to his parents.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the Doctors and Staff at Fort Hudson.

In loving memory of Len, the family asks that a book be donated to Crandall Public Library , 251 Glen St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.
