Obituary

CORINTH --- Leon Richard Sitts, age 86, of East River Drive, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019 at Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

Born and raised in Corinth on Aug. 6, 1932, he was the son of Leon D. and Hazel (Brannon) Sitts.

Leon attended Corinth Central School and went on to work as an operator at the International Paper Co. in Corinth for over 40 years.

In 1952, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country during the Korean War until 1954.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 862 in Lake Luzerne and the VFW Post 420 in Saratoga Springs.

Leon loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed watching the Yankees and listening to classic country music.

In addition to his parents, Leon was predeceased by his two sisters, Shirley Miller of Reno, N.V., and Betty Brady of Porter Corners, N.Y.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Eleanor; his children, Richard Sitts (Deborah Leveille) of Greenfield Center, N.Y., Darcy Lowe of Montclair, N.J., and Tracy (Christopher) Carney of Red Hook, N.Y.; his grandchildren, Richard and Ian Sitts of Wilton, N.Y., Devon Sitts (Jordan Garafalo) of Wilton, N.Y., Savanna and Olivia Lowe of Montclair, N.J., and Abigail and Jane Carney of Red Hook, N.Y.; his great-grandchildren, Annamarie and Jordan Garafalo of Wilton, N.Y.; his extended family, Michael Leveille and family, David Leveille and family, and Laura Schneider and family; his sisters, Myrtle Lilly of Queensbury, N.Y., and Helen Ellis of F.L.; his brothers, Brad (Janice) Sitts of F.L., and RoGer (Winona) Sitts of Corinth, N.Y.; and also several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

At the request of Leon and his family, there will be no calling hours.

A funeral service will be in private at the convenience of the family.

A graveside service will take place at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, N.Y.

In loving memory of Leon contributions may be made to the American Legion William J. Varney Post 862, at 821 Lake Ave., Lake Luzerne, N.Y. 12846.
