Obituary

FORT ANN--- Lindsay Carte passed away peacefully on March 8, 2024, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Plattsburgh, New York on December 7, 1951, the third of seven children, to Clyde and Erma Carte.

After graduating from Hudson Falls High School in 1970, Lindsay went on to earn a bachelor's degree from SUNY Plattsburgh.

In 1982, Lindsay established the Wood Carte furniture store with his brothers Kelly and Chris, where he worked until his retirement in 2012. It was at the Wood Carte he met his future wife Patti, 37 years ago. The family business continues to prosper under the ownership of his nephew, Jeremy.

Lindsay was preceded in death by his father, Clyde and brother, Kelly. He is survived by his wife, Patti; son, David; grandchildren, Max and Sloane; mother, Erma; sisters, Cindy Freebern (Mike), Dawn Pliscofsky (Andy), Kathy Bechard (Tim), and Lisa Wilkerson (John); brother, Chris (Lori); and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Lindsay loved to restore classic cars, especially GTOs, and spent most of his spare time bringing those old cars back to life. Lindsay will surely be missed by his fellow car enthusiasts with whom he spent many hours thinking about cars, talking about cars, dreaming about cars, working on cars, and very occasionally selling one. He was also known as a master builder and woodworker. In 2002 he built a home on Hadlock Pond because living on a lake was Patti's dream.

Lindsay had a passion and love for the game of basketball from backyard ball, through high school and college, to Saturday morning and summer leagues at Derby Park and the YMCA. He loved the competition and was one heck of a player, often stating he was "the second-best basketball player born on December 7th, right behind Larry Bird." But most of all he loved the joy and happiness that the game gave to him and to all who shared the courts with him. A brother in hoops and in life.

Visitation will take place Friday, March 15 from 2 to 5 pm at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804. A memorial service will follow at 5 pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers contributions in Lindsay's name may be made to the Congregation of Norte-Dame, 3135 Easton Turnpike, Fairfield, CT 06825, or St. Mary's Guardian Angel Fund, 62 Warren Street, Glens Falls, NY 12801.
