LAKE GEORGE --- Margaret M. Cordone, 84, of Ledgeview Dr., passed away Sunday morning, Feb. 1, 2015 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born Nov. 16, 1930 in Plattsburgh, she was the daughter of Clarence H. and Gertrude (Hildreth) Myers Sr.
She earned her Bachelors in Elementary Education from Eastern Nazarene College and SUNY Plattsburgh.
For 30 years, she taught first grade at Ellenburg Central Schools in Ellenburg, NY and Kingston City Schools in Kingston, NY.
Her enjoyments and hobbies include knitting, camping, traveling to Amish country in Lancaster, PA, and visiting her grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading Amish fiction books, baking and candy making, as well as collecting Hummels where she is a charter member of MJ Hummel Collectors Club. Her other memberships include Kingston Teacher's Federation (NYSUT) and New York State Retired Teachers Association (NYSRTA). She was also very involved in the local Church of the Nazarene, including being Nazarene World Missionary Society President for 15 years.
On Aug. 11, 1956 she married Louis V. Cordone in Altona, NY.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Clarence H. Myers Jr.
Survivors include her loving husband of 58 years, Louis V. Cordone of Lake George; her daughter, Judy Mattoon (Michael) Brazer of Weymouth, MA; granddaughters, Heather (Brian) Case of Quincy, MA, and Julia (Chima) Ezeigbo of Roanoke, VA; nieces and nephews, Joan and Don LaPierre, and Barbara and Robert Riley, along with many cousins and dear friends.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, Feb. 4 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.
A funeral service will take place at the funeral home, Thursday, Feb. 5, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Nancy Barrow and the Rev. Donald Klob officiating.
Burial will be in the spring in Weymouth, MA at a time to be announced.
All are welcomed to a gathering, after the funeral service, at Ambrosia Diner, 518 Aviation Rd., Queensbury.
