QUEENSBURY- Margaret "Peg" E. Cooper, 94, of Dixon Road, Queensbury, passed away July 18, 2015 at Fort Hudson Nursing Center, Fort Edward.
Born April 25, 1921 in Keesville, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Alma Mary (Costin) DeGrechie.
After attending Lake George School and St. Mary's Academy, Peg worked her whole life at various jobs enjoying all the people she met along the way. Her most recent employment was as a cashier at Barber's Market in Glens Falls until her retirement.
Peg was a member of St. Anne Sodality, the Glens Falls Hospital Guild, and at Church of Our Lady of The Annunciation.
She enjoyed vegetable gardening and canning, flower gardening, traveling to Pennsylvania to visit her Amish friends, and most of all, her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her the most pleasure.
Besides her parents, Peg was predeceased by her husband, Clifford R. Cooper, whom she married at St. Mary's Church in 1963; two daughters, Carol Ann Higgins and Mary M.(Higgins) Monroe Rezendes; one granddaughter, Laurie A. Monroe; one sister, Mary DeGrechie; and two brothers, Leo and Edward DeGrechie.
Survivors include her two sons, Robert A. Higgins and Richard G. Higgins, both of Queensbury; two grandsons, Garry Monroe of CT., and Timothy Monroe of Fort Ann; and five great grandchildren, Ellie, Gary, Regan, Lilly, and Sophia Mae Monroe.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, July 21, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette Street, Queensbury, NY 12804.
Funeral services will follow the calling hours at 12 p.m. with the Rev. Joseph Busch of Church of Our lady of The Annunciation, officiating.
Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery in Schuylerville.
