QUEENSBURY --- Marilyn "Sissy" (Gallup) Matriccino, 82, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2016, at her home on Glen Lake, encircled by her children, after a 3 and a half year battle with Multiple Myeloma.

Born March 5, 1934, in Fort Edward, NY, she was the daughter of the late Loren and Marguerite (Martin) Gallup.

Marilyn married Michael J. Matriccino and moved to Florida, spending the next 18 years there before moving back to NY after her divorce and settling in Queensbury.

After high school Marilyn graduated from Mildred Elley Secretarial School and worked for most of her life as a secretary or administrative assistant. She worked for most of her later adult years at Sandy Hill in Hudson Falls, NY, as secretary to the President. Eventually retiring from there when it was known as Valmet/Sandy Hill in 1999. Marilyn held various other jobs including working at Cool Insurance Agency and as secretary for Sheridan Hills Baptist Church in Hollywood, Florida. After retirement Marilyn was very active as a volunteer in various organizations including Meals on Wheels and Hospice.

Marilyn was a woman of strong faith and practiced this faith in various ways, most recently being an active member of the United Methodist Church of Hudson Falls, NY. Marilyn taught music and led choirs from very young children to adults and played the organ there as well as at Bacon Hill and other churches throughout her long life. Marilyn often participated in various aspects of the church such as donating to, cooking for, and working at the Holiday Bazaar, helping with Lenten and Bereavement luncheons and being an active member of the UMW (United Methodist Women) group. She also attended several Emmaus weekends as a participant, musician, or spiritual guide and participated in bible studies.

Marilyn loved music and loved to cook. Marilyn was part of a group of musicians who played at local nursing homes once a month. Marilyn really enjoyed cooking for others and used these talents to help people at church, neighbors and family. One of Marilyn's greatest joys was having her family around the table and watching them enjoy all of the delicious foods she prepared especially for them. She always knew everyone's favorite dish and was known to whip it up any time of the day or night.

Marilyn is pre-deceased by her second husband Robert VanTassell and by her beloved brother Martin (Marty/Uncle Bugs) Gallup. Left to cherish her memory include her 3 children and their spouses, her son Michael J. Matriccino and his wife Yvonne (Evie) of Hudson Falls, NY, her daughter Deborah M. Thomas and her husband Nicholas of Hampton Falls, NH and her son Jeffery L. Matriccino and his wife Suzanne of Charlottesville, VA, 6 grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Christina, Sophia, Jacob, Dominicky, and 2 great granddaughters, Savanna and Farrah. Her beloved sister and brother-in-law Kay and Richard Kuebler are also left to cherish her memory along with many special nieces and nephews. Marilyn is also cherished by her step-daughter Chris Lee, daughter of Robert VanTassel, and her husband Jerry of Tempe, Arizona, and their family including two daughters, their husbands and two granddaughters.

Family and friends may call from 10-11am on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette Street, Queensbury and then attend a memorial service and reception at the United Methodist Church of Hudson Falls at 227 Main Street. The service will begin at 12 noon with a reception to follow.

Marilyn's family would like to thank the caring staff on Tower 2 at the Glens Falls Hospital for all their care and attention while she was there and all the caring staff at High Peaks Hospice who helped us bring Mom home to rest in peace.
