Obituary

QUEENSBURY -- Marilyn (Pratt) Richards passed into God's hands 1/20/2016 at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born in Denver, Colorado 9/19/1928 to Lester & Mary Pratt, she and her family moved to Hollywood, Calif., a few months after. There she grew up and later found and married her soldier boyfriend, William Richards of New York in April of 1950.

Mom learned to play the piano at the age of 10 and never really stopped even occasionally playing in the nursing home during her final years. She was an avid needle worker and quilter. Mom spent many weekends watching football on TV with Dad.

Marilyn was an excellent "sight reader", musically and sold sheet music as well as "demonstrating" pieces on the piano to different customers. She later went on to work at Braydon and Chapman, Glens Falls one-time music store during the late 1960's. This was after her and Bill moved to Queensbury in 1964.

She played music alongside her husband for many years in different clubs in Los Angeles and Upstate N.Y. and enjoyed visiting different historical spots in New England and N.Y. State.

She is pre-deceased by her husband, William Richards and son, Stephen C. Richards and one brother Gordon Pratt of Calif. Survivors include her daughter, Dinah (Richards) Kawaguchi and grandchildren, Kathryn L. Kawaguchi and Daniel M. Kawaguchi.

The family would also like to thank the Pines Nursing Home for their care for the last 4 years.

There will be no calling hours at the family's request.

Burial will take place in the spring at Seelye's Cemetery, Queensbury.

Condolences may be mailed to Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette Street, Queensbury, NY 12804 or emailed through www.bakerfuneralhome.com.
