Obituary

Mark Lee Sheldon, age 79, born November 25, 1946, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2026, following a brief illness.

Mark was a wonderful husband, father and devoted Catholic. He recently celebrated 55 years of marriage to his loving wife, Jo (Vicki).

Mark grew up in Syracuse and graduated from Syracuse University. He then served in the Air Force (Captain) where he met his wife Jo, who also served in the Air Force. They later moved to Connecticut where he continued his studies at the University of Connecticut and University of Bridgeport, earning a master’s degree in biology. He completed his internship at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA. In 1987, the family moved to Queensbury, NY where Mark spent 20 years working as a registered dietitian for the NY State DDSO.

Mark loved being with family and friends, he always had a big smile and enjoyed wearing stylish hats. He could often be found reading books, attending Thunder hockey games and watching Syracuse University sports and Yankees baseball. He also liked to spend time fishing with his two sons.

Mark was a proud member of the American Legion, Elks and Eagles.

Mark is predeceased by his parents, Donald and Mary Sheldon of Syracuse, NY.

He is survived by his wife, Jo; his children, Brian of Queensbury, NY and Brett (Jenna) and his cherished grandson, Caleb, of Naples, FL. Mark is also survived by his siblings, Kathleen Sheldon, Ann Sheldon, Joan Reid (Mark), John Sheldon (Mary Beth) of Leesburg, VA and Tom Sheldon along with nine nieces and nephews.

Mark's family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the compassionate care he received from the staff at The Pines at Glens Falls Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.
