QUEENSBURY—Marlyn J. (Plude) Bray, 86, of Queensbury died peacefully on September 5, 2019 at Glens Falls Hospital with her loving daughter by her side.

The daughter of Leon O. Plude and Gertrude A. (Skym) Plude, she was born in Hudson Falls on March 24, 1933. As a young girl, Marlyn was a nurse's aide at Glens Falls Hospital, and graduated from South Glens Falls High School in 1951.

In 1958 she married Dana S. Bray Jr. in New York City and would have celebrated 61 years of marriage on December 6, 2019.

After marrying, she lived in Lake George and later moved to Queensbury where she lived on Lynnfield Drive and most recently Twicwood Lane.

Marlyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker, and volunteer. She joyfully dedicated herself to St. James Episcopal Church for over 50 years.

Marlyn had a love of being outdoors cultivating plants for herself, friends and the church. She was an exquisite and prolific knitter, embroiderer and quilter. She created treasured handmade gifts for loved ones and fundraisers for St. James. Marlyn made baby booties and hats for newborns at Glens Falls Hospital and provided knitted helmet liners for U.S. Troops. Marlyn was a passionate volunteer and on the board of both St. James and the Lake George Historical Society. She also loved to volunteer at the Hyde Collection, the Chapman Museum, Meals on Wheels and gave selflessly to many other charities in the area.

Marlyn served as the Secretary of the Mavericks Bowling League for over 30 years. For over 10 years, Marlyn was an honored employee at Molly Malone's Irish Gifts in Lake George until she was 85 years old.

Marlyn loved her home, her husband, her children, her grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was an incredible and selfless hostess, cooking and baking for those she loved and for those in need. She spent countless hours supporting her family and children throughout the years. Her incredible devotion, loving and positive attitude left an impact on all she knew and loved. She was a tireless, sweet, and gracious woman who was always there for her family and friends. Marlyn was a woman to admire, emulate, and honor. She blessed many lives and the world was a better place with her in it.

Marlyn is preceded by her parents, Gertrude and Leon; three brothers and three sisters; and her sons Timothy, Andrew, and Randolph.

Marlyn is survived by her husband Dana; two daughters-in-law, Karen Bray, of Severna Park, Maryland, and her son, Avery, and Nancy Sullivan Bray, of Glens Falls, and her three sons, Spencer, Myles, and Cameron; her son Christopher Bray, and his wife, Kathleen, of Yarmouth, Maine, and their three children, Devon, Luke, and Sophie: a daughter, Mia Bray, of San Diego, California; a sister, Roanne Messier of Manassas, Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 21, 2019 at St. James Episcopal Church, 172 Ottawa Street, Lake George. After the service, burial will be at The Evergreen Cemetery on Birch Avenue, Lake George, followed by a reception at St. James.
