Obituary

South Glens Falls --- Marlys would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received a call on February 8, 2018, a sort of an offer you can't refuse, for an appointment from which she will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. Job security is exactly 110 percent. Her new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, playing bingo, knitting and reading to her heart's content. Music, laughter and love are guaranteed. Food is delicious and you never gain an ounce. She left detailed instructions for her children to celebrate her mission here, which has now been completed. Low adherence to this instruction will not be tolerated.

Marlys was born on January 25, 1952 in Star Lake, New York to Floyd "Pete" and Isabelle (Janack) Bullock. Marlys spent many of her childhood summers at the family camp on idyllic Cranberry Lake. She attended Clifton-Fine Central School and after graduation she followed her childhood dream becoming a nurse. She attended North Country Community College and graduated with her LPN degree. After being an LPN for many years she decided to further her education and returned to North Country Community College and graduated with her RN degree.

Marlys is survived by her children and grandchildren whom she adored: Kimberly, her son Colvin, Jason (wife Kristin) their children Daniel and Landon, a special son in-law Jason Pollock; siblings Peter (Carol) Bullock, Brent (Pat) Bullock, Cheryl Periard and a special sister in-law Sharon Proctor;  many nieces, nephews, friends and family too numerous to list but not forgotten. Marlys is reunited with her parents, her cohort in crime Iva "Ninny" Rusaw, brother in-law Ken Periard, and nephew Daniel Bullock.

We want to let her know that she did a great job and wish her a safe journey. We will remember her smile, her warmth, her energy, her love for life and family, especially her grandchildren. Her friends and colleagues, many of whom over time also became friends. She worked very hard all her life, up until the very end. She made a difference in the lives of many.

We invite family, friends, (and strangers she would love to have met) to join us and celebrate together beginning Friday Feb. 16 at 4 p.m. a Celebration of Life will be held at the Star Lake Fire Hall (Main St., Star Lake, NY 13690) with a gathering to follow; Thursday Feb. 22 at Baker Funeral Home (11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804), calling hours will be 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., with a Celebration of Life to follow officiated by the Rev. Flossie Gage-Bates and the Rev. Lauren Gage, and Friday Feb. 23 at 11 a.m. there will be a church service officiated by the Rev. Laura Mitchell at West Hebron United Presbyterian Church (3153 County Rte 30, Salem, NY 12865) with a luncheon to follow.
