Obituary

QUEENSBURY--- Martin Pasquale Lacatena, 77, of Cedar Court, graduated to heaven on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at home with his loving wife and family by his side.

Born on July 29, 1941 in Paterson, NJ, he was the son of Anna and Natale Lacatena. Marty had eight siblings, including a twin brother, Natale Alfred Lacatena, Jr.

Marty married his "Lady Suzanne" on November 10, 1983.

He had an amazing work ethic. He ran a catering business called "Family Affair", owned and operated a cabinet business called "Kitchens II", and sold and installed kitchen cabinetry for over 40 years.

Marty was a man of service. He was a founding member of Northway Christian Family Church in Queensbury, where he established and led the Usher Team and served as an Elder and Men's Group leader for many years. He mentored dozens of men ranging in age from 6 to 76. He was a loyal and faithful volunteer and Board Member at the Open Door Mission, and was a long-time member of the Lions Club International, serving as President of the Passaic, NJ chapter from 1985 to 1986. Marty also volunteered at the Music Foundation for the Visually Handicapped.

He was extremely patriotic. He embraced the phrase: "Stand for the Flag, Kneel for the Cross." He was an avid reader, demonstrated a deep love for history, and revered our Nation's Founding Fathers, as well as Abraham Lincoln.

Marty enjoyed watching his favorite baseball team, the NY Yankees, and took every opportunity he could to travel and go antiquing with his wife.

One of his great passions was food! He LOVED cooking and eating, as well as researching and trying new recipes. His greatest passion, however, was following his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and helping others do the same. He embodied 1 Corinthians 14:40, "Let everything be done decently and in order…"

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and faithful wife, Suzanne Lacatena; their son, Jared Gould and his wife, Maggie; his grandsons, Benjamin and Jonathan Gould, and his "grandbabies" Suzanne and Esther Johnson; his "kid brother" Nick Lacatena; also several nieces, and nephews.

Calling hours will take place Monday, August 27 from 10:30 to noon at Northway Christian Family Church, 37 Homer Ave, Queensbury.

A Celebration of his Life will follow at the church with the Rev. John Tether, Pastor of Northway Christian Family Church officiating.
