Obituary

WHITEHALL--- Marvin G. Durkee, 63, of Whitehall, passed away Friday, September 6, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born May 8, 1950, in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Gilbert and Mildred (Anderson) Durkee.
Marvin loved horses and motorcycles, listening to country music, and watching old westerns.
He worked for many years for R.G. Landry Sr. in Glens Falls, who was very much a mentor to him.
In addition to his parents, Marvin was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Durkee.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Diana Durkee of Whitehall; three daughters, Heather Sheloski of Whitehall, Kerrie Baker of Queensbury, and Devin Cronin of Queensbury; two sons, Kevin Durkee of Fort Ann and William Durkee of Whitehall; a step-son, David Rains of Batavia, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mary Durkee of Whitehall; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Marvin's family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of High Peaks Hospice and Dr. Stoutenberg for all of their care and compassion.
Friends may call upon the family Friday, September 13, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury.
A memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kevin Gebo, pastor of Truthville Baptist Church in North Granville.
