FORT ANN --- Mary Marshall Cochran McConnell, 72, of Ft. Ann, died June 6, 2013 after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.
Born Jan. 4, 1941 in Richmond, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Nancy (Tyree) Cochran.
Mary was educated in the South, at Hutchinson School in Memphis, Tenn. and Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Virginia, later receiving her Bachelor's Degree in French Literature from New York University.
She worked in publishing at Seabury Press (NYC) and worked for Glens Falls Hospital for 16 years as a program coordinator of Family Support Services for Warren and Washington Counties.
She led a lifetime of community service, translating Braille for the Library of Congress, was active in affairs of the Episcopal Diocese of Albany, and most recently served on the Community Services Board receiving awards in 2008 and 2009 for her contributions in advocacy and service for community mental health.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Virginia Cochran Noell.
She leaves behind her husband, the Rev. Theodore McConnell, and her two daughters, Nancy Marshall Jordan and Dr. Lucy Porter Jordan.
Friends may call upon the family Tuesday, June 11, from 12 to 2 p.m. at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, June 12 at 12:30 p.m. at Church of The Messiah, Glen St., Glens Falls, with the Rev. Scott Harding, pastor, officiating.
Interment of ashes will take place at Church of the Holy Trinity in New York City at a later date.
