GLENS FALLS --- Mary Louise Farrar, 92, passed into eternal life on Friday, August 19, 2016. A lifelong resident of Glens Falls, Louise was the daughter of the late Anthony Girard Sr., and Rose Vacarelli.
Louise left St. Mary's Academy in the eighth grade to go to work to help support the family. When she turned 16 she began a career at the Clark Brothers Glove Factory. She married Charles H. Farrar on June 2, 1946 and was a stay at home mom until the late 1960's when she took employment at the Glens Falls City School where she worked in the cafeteria until her retirement.
Besides her parents, Louise was predeceased by her loving husband Charles in 1995; her brothers Anthony Girard Jr., Michael Girard, Joseph Girard and Patrick Girard; her infant sister, Rose, and her sister, Mrs. Anna Greenwood; her sister in-law Mrs. Jane Girard and her brother-in-law Frank Mangona; as well as two nephews, Bart Girard and Matt Girard.
Surviving Louise are her two sons, Anthony P. Farrar (Donna J.) and Charles A. Farrar (Dale A.); five granddaughters, Mrs. Cynthia (Brandon) Stanton, Mrs. Andrea (Stephen) Morrison; Mrs. Laura (Paul) Pileckas; Ms. Lindsay (Julia) Farrar; Ms. Christina (Josh Langabeer) Farrar; and seven great-grandchildren, Anthony Carothers, Sean, Ryan and Grayson Stanton, Conner, Hudson and Boden Pileckas. She is also survived by her bothers, Francis Girard, Lee (June) Girard, Paul (Shirley) Girard; and her sisters, Stella (Eleric) Gifford and Theresa Mangona, and her sisters-in-law Mrs. Arlene Girard, Mrs. Charlotte Girard, Mrs. Marie Girard and Mrs. Nancy Girard; and a brother-in-law Ed Greenwood. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, and great grand nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their great gratitude to the staff at the Home of the Good Shepherd in Moreau.
Calling hours will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, August 22 at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury NY 12804.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 23 at Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation, Aviation Rd., Queensbury, with the Rev. Joseph Busch, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in South Glens Falls.
