GLENS FALLS — Mary L. Fuller, 81, passed away in her home Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, surrounded by her family.
She was born Mary Louise Erickson on March 11, 1933, in Lake George to Peter and Gladys (Lathrop) Erickson. She was raised in Glens Falls and lived there most of her life.
Mary went to work for General Electric in Fort Edward when she was 28 years old and retired from there, as a foreman, after 30 years.
She was proud of her tenure as president of the Lady's Aid Society in St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Schuylerville, where she was a member of the vestry. She was also a member of the Church of the Messiah in Glens Falls.
Mary was not one to tout her achievements because all she accomplished she did not do for praise, but because she wanted to prove to herself she could do it. Mary was proudest of the families she raised. In her last days, she recalled those families as her "empire of love."
She was predeceased by her parents, Gladys Scoville and Peter Erickson; her brother, Robert Norton; and her sister, Anne Gaffner.
She is survived by her son, Larry Fuller and his wife, Diana, of San Diego, California; three grandchildren, Troy Fuller, Brandon Fuller and Mistie Calcagno (Carlo); five great-grandchildren, Ashley, Mia and Miley Fuller and Cyle and Morgan Calcagno; her sister, Gloria Brandt of Liverpool, New York; her brother-in-law, Robert Gaffner of Greenville, Illinois; her nieces, Deborah Lloyd (Bill Tretiak) of Corinth, and Bobbi Siska (Garry Robinson) of Schuylerville; her nephew, Robert "Buddy" Norton (Carol) of Amsterdam, whom she loved as if they were her own children; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was affectionately known as "Aunt Grandma" to Stacey Lloyd, Andrea Miele (Tony), Erin Lloyd, Laura Steinbiss (John), Michael Siska, Leah Siska, Josh Norton and Adam Norton. She was also "Nauntie" to Elizabeth and Lyla Miele and Jordan Bruce.
Calling hours will be take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury.
A small celebratory service will follow at 7 p.m., at the funeral home, with the Rev. Steve Smith, High Peaks Hospice chaplain, officiating.
