BOLTON LANDING--- Mary Bet Haux, 83, of Potter Hill Rd., Bolton, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Feb. 6, 2013, at Glens Falls Hospital, with her family by her side.
Born Nov. 1, 1930 in Ilion, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Malcolm Dewitt and Mary Elizabeth (Wilson) Roberts.
Mary Bet earned her Associates Degree from Booth and Bayliss Secretarial School.
On Aug. 8, 1950, Mary Bet married Frank Haux at St. Sacrement Church in Bolton Landing and they honeymooned on Fork Island.
For many years, Mary Bet was Parish Secretary for St. John's Episcopal Church in Bridgeport, Conn. and served as a long time volunteer at Bolton Free Library.
Some of her greatest enjoyments were sharing memories with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and teaching them all how to swim. She loved the sunshine, soaking it up on Cape Cod, Anna Maria Island, and Huddle Beach on Lake George. She also enjoyed her crossword puzzles and watching Jeopardy.
She attended church at St. John's Episcopal Church in Bridgeport, Conn. and St. Sacrement in Bolton Landing, N.Y.
Survivors include her three children, Franz Haux and his wife, Lisa, of Queensbury, Patti Haux of Bolton Landing, and Shirl Doherty and her husband, Tom, of Northville; five grandchildren, Patrick Doherty and his wife, Stephanie, of Glens Falls, Lauren Roberts and her husband, Jason, of Edinburg, and Erich, Kevin, and Haley Haux of Queensbury; five great-grandchildren, Lucas, Sawyer, and Quinn Doherty, and Dane and Mackenzie Kate Roberts; two sisters, Sandra Pratt and Nancy Kluck of Bolton Landing; one brother, Derry Roberts of Florida and Bolton Landing; also many cherished extended family members and friends.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury.
A brief memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home, with The Rev. Dawn Skramstad of Bolton Landing's Church of St. Sacrement, officiating.
A memorial service and a celebration of Mary Bet's life will be held during the summer.
