Obituary

Mary Jean Kelly, 74, of South Glens Falls, passed away unexpectedly on February 25, 2018. She had undergone a high risk surgery which was a success, but in the second week of recovering she passed on to be with her husband.

Mary was born in Queens, New York on July 15, 1943 and was the daughter of the Harry and Mildred (Olbermin) Kistner.

Mary had a long courtship with Joseph Kelly and after he carried her bowling ball to her car she knew that he was the one. They eventually married in 1968. They lived in Glen Cove for a short time before taking up residence in South Glens Falls to raise their four children Mary Jean, Joseph, James and Ray.

Mary enjoyed bowling and volleyball. She enjoyed meeting people as she spent years working in retail. Mary worked for many years at the Joy Department store until she had her second brain aneurism. This didn't slow her down. She still engaged in many projects and hobbies at home. She loved doing crossword puzzles to keep her mind sharp and loved collecting coins and stamps.  Her humor only grew as the years passed. She held nothing back and you always knew where you stood with her.

Mary's living family include her daughter Mary Jean and  husband Robert Johnston along with their two children Jennifer and Elizabeth (Lizzy), her son Joseph and his children Cameron, Lucas and Grace, another son, James and his wife Kate and Mary's youngest son Raymond and wife Jennifer and their two boys Caleb and Kaiden.

Friends and family may call upon the family from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday March 5, 2018 at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury.

Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Road, Saratoga.

Donations may be made, in loving memory of Mary, to Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eight Avenue, Seventh floor, New York, N.Y. 10001
