QUEENSBURY --- Miles Hamilton Weekes, 89, of Margaret Dr., Queensbury, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Glens Falls Hospital.
Born Feb. 11, 1924 at his paternal grandparents home in Barbados, British West Indies, he was the son of the late Elton and Mildred (Bauer) Weekes.
He grew up in N.Y.C., where he attended schools and graduated.
Miles enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in World War II and was in England with the 101st Troops Carrier. On return home, after his honorable discharge, Miles went to work for the N.Y.C. Telephone Co. He later transferred to the Glens Falls area to be among the trees and open spaces, where he served as supervisor of the Northern District until his retirement. Miles was also a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Miles had an amazing talent for building. He constructed his Indian Lake home, which he loved spending time at. He had many talents that were enjoyed by many.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife and mother of his children, Lucille Weekes, and his brothers, Robert and Ken Weekes.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Deidra (Carroll) Weekes; his three daughters, Karen (Bob) Scheyer, Dale (Charles) Farrar, and Lorna Weekes; his son, Miles M. Weekes; five granddaughters, Jill (Ryan) Osterhaut, Darcy Scheyer, Andrea (Steven) Morrison, Lindsay Farrar, and Christina Farrar; one great-grandson, Mason Osterhaut; one brother, George (Chicki) Weekes; three step-children, Jeff (Joanne) Davidson, Bill (Veronica) Davidson, and Mike Davidson; two step-granddaughters, Chelsea and Melissa Davidson; one step-grandson, Lee Davidson; and his beloved dog, Mickey.
Miles will be missed by all who loved him and will be forever remembered by all his friends.
At his request, there will be no calling hours or funeral.
A graveside service will take place Tuesday, July 16, at 10 a.m. at Pine View Cemetery, Quaker Rd., Queensbury, with the Rev. Flossie Gage Bates officiating.
