Obituary

PLATTSBURGH --- Morton (Bob) Keith Bailey, 91, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025, with his family by his side, lovingly caring for him. It appears his "warranty ran out" when he turned 91.

Born July 12, 1933, in Wolcott, Vermont, he was the son of Arthur and Charlotte (Wells) Bailey.

Bob attended the Wolcott School until the 8th grade and continued learning all through his life.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean War as Military Police and Colonels' Driver.

He married Patricia B. Williams on September 15, 1955. Bob loved Patricia (they could squabble), and they had a very precious moment saying goodbye. In 1972, the Turnpike Wesleyan Church invited Bob and Pat's children to Vacation Bible School which led to their love of God and knowing that God loves them. On September 7, 1975; Morton, Patricia, Patrick, Mike and Mark were baptized at the Howard Johnsons Pool in Plattsburgh, NY. The twins, Mike and Mark, became Wesleyan Ministers. Bobby and Patrick were great mechanics. Patrick took a liking cooking and has helped provide many awesome meals. Bobby is a lot like his dad and wasn't afraid to take on almost any task. Morton "Bob" loved his family and was very proud of his boys.

He was the owner and operator of "Bailey & Sons Auto" in Plattsburgh, New York. "No job too big, or too small."

Bob enjoyed deer hunting, farming, gardening, digging up stone (ya large ones), and occasionally in the lawn and pathways where mom would mow or drive her buggy; "Oh Mort!" she would say. He also enjoyed sawing down numerous trees, and several tree limbs were dispatched; conscripts and willing participants having to run out of the way of falling trees (ask Jason). Then we had to quickly remove the evidence from the flower beds (sorry mom). Not all flowers feared the weed eater or
being pulled up with the weeds…. Some were downright smashed. Once the Garage was closed his curiosity turned to fixing all sorts of stuff…. perfectly good working items (such as hearing aids, lawn mowers, weed eaters, chainsaws) were in various stages of "repaired." Yes, the brand-new tractor did "sound like it started funny" so dad "fixed it." He had fun, and eventually the tractor came back from a "tune up."

In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his sisters, Vivian Lamphear, Lois Tallman, Carol Allen, and infant sister, Joyce Bailey; and his brothers, Garth Bailey, Duane Bailey, and infant brother, Arthur Alden (Boggey) Bailey.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Patricia Bailey; children, Robert Bailey, Patrick Bailey, Michael (Carolyn) Bailey, and Mark (Karen) Bailey; grandchildren, Todd (Jennifer) Bailey, Jason Bailey, Andrea (Gian) Minardi, Alicia (David) Ayers, Joshua Bailey, Michaela (Ronald III) White, Sarah (Ethan) Andrews, Meghan (Joseph) Lovering, and Ryan (Allison) Bailey; great-grandchildren, Julia Bailey, Anna Bailey, Stellina Minardi, Veda Minardi, Isabella Ayers, Eloise Lovering, Howard Andrews, Brynlee Bailey, and Kimberlyn Bailey; and siblings, Bertha Smith, and Brian Alden Bailey.
