Obituary

Nancy Elizabeth (Carter) Wolfe passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. Born on March 8,1944 in Glens Falls, NY, Nancy was the beloved wife of Peter Wolfe for over 54 years, proud mother of four, and doting grandmother of two. She was the heart of our family--steady, nurturing, and always leading with quiet strength and love.

After graduating from St. Mary's High School in 1962, Nancy earned a degree in nursing at the Mary McClellan Nursing School in 1963. A natural caretaker, she dedicated 45 years of her life to tending to the tiniest and most vulnerable at Glens Falls Hospital, working primarily in the birthing center (Snuggery) and the NICU. She lived her life the way that she cared for her patients--gently, attentively, and with quiet devotion.

Always impeccably dressed, Nancy took great pride in looking her best, a reflection of the dignity and care she extended to every part of her life. She had a quiet artistry for the small things: from the shimmer of her carefully curated Christmas decorations, to the aroma of her perfectly cooked holiday spreads, which were the center of treasured family traditions. Every family gathering was a place full of comfort, care and love. Through these small, thoughtful touches, she created spaces where people always felt cherished and loved.

Her greatest joy was her family. She loved spending time with her husband and children; whether it was family boating and camping trips on the islands of Lake George, dinners and gatherings at home, or shopping with her girls, she was happiest just to be with them and spoil them with love. It was a true blessing to her, just having everyone together. She was the kind of matriarch who turned everyday moments into beautiful memories.

Her two grandchildren were her pride and joy. Being around them brought her the biggest smile as she just loved to spoil them every chance she had. It's no surprise that they chose to spend so much of their time with her. From their vacations on the shores of Maine, to birthdays, holidays, and sleepovers--Nana, as they called her, would find herself full of joy. She demonstrated the value of gathering, of showing up for one another, and of finding happiness in everyday moments. Her selflessness, kindness, and beautiful smile will be remembered, always.

Nancy is survived by her husband Peter; children Stephen Wolfe, Kristen Wolfe (Brandon Harris), Ryan Wolfe (Meg), and Lauren Wolfe (Jeff Viele); grandchildren Payton and Rowan Wolfe; and her sister Sharon Goodrich (Neil). She was predeceased by her parents Helene and Harold Carter.
