Obituary

FORT ANN --- Nancy Claudette Shepard, 82, passed away Monday, June 26, 2017 at Glens Falls Hospital with her family by her side.

Born April 22, 1935 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Raymond and Azona (Wood) Shaw.

Nancy graduated in 1953 from St. Mary's Academy in Glens Falls.

On May 1, 1955, she married William J. Shepard. They shared a wonderful marriage for 62 years.

Nancy has received many awards and accomplishments as "Mother of the year." In 1953, she was honored with "Miss Lake George."

Nancy had 29 years of service as Director of Diversional Therapy Center for the Handicap, in Warren, Washington, and Saratoga counties.

Her full life consisted of Boy Scouting, starting in 1964 as a Cub Scout Den Mother, and was still active on many of their advisory boards.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was predeceased by her son, David R. Shepard; her brother, Edward P. Shaw and his wife, Lila; and her brother-in-law, Jerry.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, William "Bill" Shepard; four children, Paul H. Shepard (Sandy), Charles E. Shepard (Mary), Matthew J. Shepard (Barbara), and Angel L. Gravino (Joseph); 8 grandchildren, Stephanie Gawrys, Jessica Shepard, Ashley Shepard, Elizabeth Gates, Jim Shepard, Patrick Shepard, Erik Shepard, and Paul Gawrys; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Salma Webb (Jon), and Kyle Smith; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Calling hours will take place Friday, June 30, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804. A Scouting Sendoff will be conducted at 4:45 p.m. during the calling hours.

A funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. with the Rev. Paul Cox officiating.

A graveside service will be held in the future at St. Alphonsus Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the Glens Falls Hospital, 3 rd Floor staff.
