QUEENSBURY-Nancy A. (Harris) Wood, 76, of Warren lane, Queensbury, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Glens Falls Hospital after a long battle with COPD.
Born July 17, 1936 in Harrisena, an area of Queensbury, she was the daughter of the late Marshall and Sarah (Miller) Harris.
On Christmas, December 25, 1955, she married Donald A. Wood at the Harrisena Community Church.
For 34 years, she was a dedicated employee at the Queensbury Price Chopper working in the butcher department as a meat wrapper retiring in 1998.
She loved gardening, the outdoors, animals, and theatrical music listening to the Glens Falls Symphony Orchestra, and attending plays at the C. R. Wood Theatre. She also was a contributor to many organizations, but especially to the Humane Society, and St. Jude's Children's Foundation. Above all, she was a loved and cherished person who will be greatly missed by many.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Donald A. Wood who passed away in 1987.
Survivors include her two sons, Daniel A. Wood and his wife, Debra, of Fort Ann, and Don C. Wood of Queensbury; 10 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Friends may call upon the family Tuesday, September 18 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette Street, Queensbury.
A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Lamont Robinson, pastor of the Harrisena Community Church, officiating.
Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Hudson Falls.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at Glens Falls Hospital Tower-2 for their utmost care and attention given to Nancy in her final days.
