Obituary

HUDSON FALLS ---Nita T. Reynolds-Stansberry, 67, unexpectedly passed away in the early evening of Tuesday, September 24, 2024.

Born in Tupper Lake, she was the daughter of Leland and Helen (Machaby) Reynolds.

Nita resided in Hudson Falls, NY for many, many years. She was in the choir of several of the area's local churches, singing for a variety of Church services. Nita was also a past member of the singing group "The Sweet Adelines", a women's singing organization whose musical art form is barbershop harmony. For years her singing voice was strong, and just profoundly beautiful and unique. Her harmonizing ability was angelic.

In many ways Nita was the absolute definition of "Yankee Ingenuity". Over the years she was known to work with wood to create what she needed.  Once, with minimal tools, and before it was a thing, she designed and built a combined loft bed/writing desk/bookshelf that looked as if it was built by an Amish Craftsman. In her last apartment she created a floor to ceiling library to hold the over 2,000 books she had.  Nita also was an incredible gardener. Nita had a large-scale knowledge of domestic and wild flora, covering a plants origin, classification and what, if any, medicinal properties it had.

Nita's sweet demeanor, sense of humor, intelligence, unassuming nature and fun-loving spirit will be painfully missed.

Nita is survived by her 7 siblings, Sandy Mayfield, Cindy Green, Lee Ann Aliff, Joesph Reynolds, Daniel Reynolds, Yvonne LaFountain, Spencer Reynolds; and her several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Leland and Helen Reynolds.

In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Nita can be made to the Crandall Library, 251 Glen Street, Glens Falls, NY.

A Memorial Mass with be held at 11 AM on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at St. James Catholic Church, 237 Main Street in North Creek, NY.  Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery, North Creek.
