Aug 6, 1925 — Oct 23, 2023
QUEENSBURY---Norma Dorothea (Luyster) La Rose, 98, of Queensbury, died of natural causes on October 23, 2023.
She was born in Glen Head within the town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County, NY in 1925 to John H. and Mildred D. Luyster and enjoyed her childhood years there. She learned to play the violin and piano. Norma attended school as a child before working jobs as a bank officer, secretary in Sea Cliff, NY and later co-owner of the Texan Motel and Lodge in Lake George, NY. She enjoyed dancing, listening to classical music, and travel to Florida.
Norma will always be remembered for her kind words, friendly smile, and love of chocolate. We couldn't have asked for a better friend and will miss Norma. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who love her.
Norma lived a long healthy life. She was preceded in death by parent, John H. and Mildred D. Luyster; stepmother, Josephine A. Brown; brother, John D. Luyster; husband, George Schuessler and husband, Howard A. La Rose; and stepdaughter, Cheryl Ann Young.
Norma is survived by a stepson, Howard A. (Kristine K.) La Rose; step grandchildren, Patrick La Rose, Sonya La Rose, Stacey (L. Todd) Wells and Wayne S. (Anya) Young; step great-grandchildren, Matthew, Megan, Kaitlyn and Andrew Wells, Chase and Cole Wilcox, and Slade Young.
We would like to thank the staff at the Countryside Adult Home and The Pines for their compassionate care.
A private burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Lake George.
