GLENS FALLS --- Oscar Sundberg died Thursday, November 23, 2023, at his home in Glens Falls, N.Y.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of Franz H. Sundberg and Anna (Holmquist) Sundberg.

On September 23, 1951, Oscar married his high school sweetheart, Ruth (Guernsey) Sundberg at the Church of the Messiah in Glens Falls. Together they raised four children, Kristine, Michael, Stephen, and Andrew.

Oscar was predeceased by his parents, Franz and Anna, his brother, Richard Mac Donald, and his grandson, Tyrus.

His surviving family include his wife Ruth, daughter Kristine, and her husband John, son Michael and his wife Lynne, son Stephen and his wife Belinda, and son Andrew; five granddaughters; five grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and three great-grandsons.

Oscar enjoyed hunting, saltwater fishing, traveling with his family, and watching the young ones in their school events and sports.

Oscar retired from the USNR in 1977, CibaGeigy Corp. in 1987, and the Albany, N.Y. Carpenters Local 291 in 1992.

A graveside ceremony will take place Thursday, November 30, at 11 a.m. at Pine View Cemetery with the Rev. Nancy Goff.
