Obituary

Pamela Johnson Vogel passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025, at the age of 75. Born to Emma and George Johnson, she was the second of four sisters and lived her entire life in her beloved hometown of Glens Falls, NY, building a family, a career and a legacy.

A proud alumna of St. Mary's Academy, Pam forged life-long friendships with her close-knit "Class of '67 SMA Girls." It was also at St. Mary's where she would meet the love-of-her-life, Joey Vogel. The high school sweethearts would go on to script a love story second to none. Blessed first with daughter Jennifer followed by son Jason, the Vogel family grew deep Adirondack roots with many wonderful neighbors and extended family.

Pam, always the rock of the family, was a dedicated wife, mother and friend, providing structure, support and inspiration to all. The "Daily Note" on the kitchen counter was a must-read for all in the household...or else! A true "hockey mom," Pam made her home in warming rooms from Crandall Park Hockey Box to Fire Road Rink to the NHL; always cheering, always bundled up, and always still freezing! The bonds created in rinks across North America played such an integral role in her life. Family and friends counted on Pam's caring cards, gifts or messages which were always delivered beautifully. She made a point to attend as many family events as possible, and her presence brought positivity and unconditional love.

Pam had an unquestionable affection for her hometown, and on a larger scale, Warren County. She committed herself to serving her community in 1976, first as Warren County Records Technician, then Records Manager and County Historian, before running a stellar campaign for County Clerk in 2003, resulting in a resounding victory! She would go on to serve five 4-year terms in that vital role, running unopposed in her last four elections! Pam spent nearly half a century as a Warren County employee and set the unrivaled gold standard for public service. Integrity, compassion and a deep commitment to community guided her for 48 unwavering years. The Vogel family is greatly appreciative of the recent tributes presented by current Warren County leadership.

In her "spare time", Pam partnered with Joe to launch Mailings Made Easy from the dining room of their home in 1989. MME was a cornerstone of the Glens Falls business community for over 31 years, regarded for their mailing expertise, superior customer service and festive holiday windows. A lifelong learner, Pam earned her bachelor's degree from Empire State University in 1990, where she was honored to deliver the commencement address. She completed this while tirelessly balancing career and family obligations.

Whether with Joey, her kids, siblings, or friends, Pam was always up for an adventure. She combined the beauty of nature, history lessons, art, faith, and fun in her travels. She trekked throughout the Northeast to find that obscure headstone or historical landmark (bribing her children with ice cream along the way), searched for the perfect lobster roll, and chased sunsets along the New England coast. In Colorado, she was game-on for tubing, snowshoeing, wildflower hikes, and sailing on Lake Dillon. She embraced The Big Apple, delighting in concerts, Broadway, museums and sporting events. But no matter how far she traveled, Pam's heart was always at home: the Adirondacks, Lake George, Glen Lake, Lake Lonely, the lawn at SPAC, and the paddock at Saratoga brought her joy, serenity and sunshine...and a few winning tickets! Though she appreciated special meals (and a Diet Pepsi!) everywhere she went, Mama V's regular seat at The Talk of The Town with a glass of pinot grigio, extra croutons and a sausage pizza was priceless to her.

A devoted member of St. Mary's Parish and Father Scott's messages, Pam's faith was her foundation. She had a deep love for God, which guided her to live with grace, generosity, and quiet strength. Travels to Rome afforded her the honor of praying at The Holy See while a visit to Paris meant Mass at Notre- Dame de Paris. And what better way to celebrate a 75th birthday than in South Bend praying with St. Bernadette at The Grotto, service at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, and a win for the Fighting Irish under the eyes of Touchdown Jesus! She was certainly blessed.

Pam was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Joseph Vogel; her parents, Emma Prince Johnson and George Fitzgerald Johnson; in-laws, Betty and Joe Vogel; her sister, Janet Whalen; nephew, Shawn Whalen; son-in-law, Martin Gotantas; and brother-in-law, Timothy Vogel.

Pam is survived by her loving children, Jennifer Vogel Gotantas (Marc Birdsill) and Jason (Lisa) Vogel; along with Granddogs, Bosco, Folger and Kenya. She is also survived by her sisters, Judy (Jimmy) Strohmeyer and Lisa Plocharczyk; her sister-in-law, Susan (Bill) Bryan; and brother-in-law, Thomas Vogel; so many wonderful nieces and nephews; and her most special lifetime friendships with Karen Burke Curtis, Jackie Dufresne, and SueAnne Linehan.

The Vogel family would like to extend their gratitude to the wonderful medical teams at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital, Glens Falls Hospital, and Ft. Hudson Health System for their knowledge and care. Special appreciation to Aunt Maureen Johnson, Cousin Colleen Johnson and family friend Dr. David Cunningham for their invaluable support and compassion.
