Patrick Joseph
Flynn
d. Jul 23, 2024
QUEENSBURY --- It is with deep sorrow we note the sudden passing of Patrick Joseph Flynn, 54, on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.
Born in Lynchburg, Virginia, he was the son of Robert M. and Ann (O'Connell) Flynn.
In 1974, the family moved to Glens Falls after living in Syracuse for two years.
Patrick attended Kensington Road Elementary School and graduated from Glens Falls High School in 1987. He was the owner and operator of Flynn's Painting.
He had a passion and love for nature and all its creatures, great and small. The beauty and solitude of the Adirondack Mountains were in direct view from his home.
A summer program at Outward Bound in Rockport, Maine stimulated his love of sailing, and he recently acquired his first sailboat, Velocity Girl. He loved to sail on Lake Champlain.
His love of the outdoors probably led to his most profound experience with his friend Joel Wiegert. In 2011, they trekked the Annapurna circuit of the Himalayan Mountains in Nepal, Tibet. In 2012, they ventured to Tanzania, Africa where Patrick successfully climbed to the summit (4566 meter) of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Patrick was on the ski patrol at Gore Mountain and West Mountain. He also enjoyed swimming, golf and ice hockey.
Patrick was predeceased by his paternal and maternal grandparents; brother, Bill; aunt, Sister Mary Ellen O'Connell, RSM; niece, Crystal Riley and her daughter, Lilly; nephew, Zachary Girard; and brothers-in-law, Leon Girard and John Kleinstuber.
Those left to cherish his memory are his parents, Bob and Ann; siblings, Kathleen Girard, Helen Kleinstuber, Jim and Gen Flynn, MaryEllen and Keith Monroe, Michael and Charmaine Flynn, and Peggy and Tim Hale; aunts, Sister Patricia Flynn, SSND, Carol Edwards, and Helen O'Grady; uncle, James R. O'Connell; nieces, Lauren Flynn, Shanely Flynn, and Mackenzie Hale; nephews, Mike Riley and Flynn Hale; grandnieces, Emory and Avery Flynn; and grandnephews, Caiden and Tyler Wilkinson, and Matthew and Hunter Riley.
Visitation will take place Saturday, August 17, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.
