GLENS FALLS -- Pauline L. Sexton, 87, passed away Monday, April 23, 2012, at Fletcher Allen Health Care Center in Burlington, Vt., surrounded by her loving family. Pauline had been admitted Monday, April 16, after a fall at United Helpers Nursing Home in Canton, N.Y., where she had lived since December 2010.
Pauline was born in Glens Falls, N.Y., on Dec. 10, 1924, daughter of Fred C. Logan and Mildred (Dietz) Logan.
She lived in Glens Falls for 85 years until moving to Potsdam in April 2010, where she lived with her son, Michael Sexton, and his wife, Janice.
She is survived by both of them and her beloved grandchildren, Michele Seiler, and her husband, Dr. Michael Seiler, of Chicago, Ill., and John Sexton of Ithaca, N.Y. Pauline is also survived by her very dear friend, whom she considered to be her daughter, Sharon Oakes of Kingston, N.H.; as well as several dear nieces, nephews and cousins.
A daughter, Diane Elizabeth Sexton, predeceased her in 1991, and her ex-husband and friend, Hollis Sexton, died in 2006.
Pauline was blessed throughout her life with many wonderful friends and neighbors from the Glens Falls area who not only helped to care for her when her family could not be there, but looked after her when she was in need and provided her with company and companionship. She loved her home and the city of Glens Falls.
In later years, she enjoyed reading, evening visits with her son, going out for the occasional car ride and nap, and the company of the family pets brought to visit her. She rarely complained except to say it was "no fun getting old." She was quick with a smile and thankful for every day and every thing anyone did for her and never failed to say so.
A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 28, at Bay Road Presbyterian Church, 1167 Bay Road, Lake George, with the Rev. Chris Garrison, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow at Pine View Cemetery, Quaker Road, Queensbury.
It was Pauline's request that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to either the Bay Road Presbyterian Church at 1167 Bay Road, Lake George, NY 12845 or to the Glens Falls Senior Citizen Center, 380 Glen St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.
Condolences may be mailed to Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804, or emailed through www.bakerfuneralhome.com.
