After her children were older she took a job with Bell Telephone as a Telephone Operator in Pittsfield and retired from AT&T in the late 1980's.

In 1950 Pearl married Albert L. Kitmacher, a Holocaust Survivor who retired from Besse-Clarke and had his own business, Albert's Custom Tailoring in Pittsfield. She devoted herself to him until his passing in 2000.

In addition to her husband Albert, Pearl was predeceased by her sister Celia Cohen.

She is survived by her four children, Miriam Kitmacher of Queensbury, NY, Gary Kitmacher (Susan) of Webster, TX, Lois Kitmacher Karhinen (John) of Queensbury, NY and Ira Kitmacher (Wendy) of Fairfax, VA; grandchildren Amy, Sarah, Debbie and Abby (Gary) and David and Gabi (Ira); as well as 4 great grandchildren and her beloved cat "DD".
