LAKE GEORGE ? Philip Theo Blair, 62, of McGillis Avenue, succumbed to complications from various cancers Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at his home.
Born Sept. 19, 1951, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Leo F. Blair Sr. and Viola M. (LaRose) Blair.
Philip attended Glens Falls High School and later started working with his dad in the family business, Leo Blair & Son Trucking. Later, Philip would own the family business he renamed B+B Disposable Recycling Corp. As a young boy he would play for hours in his parent's back yard building massive highways in the dirt. He also built a Flintstone car out of scrap materials he got from his dad. His interests ranged from hiking, observing airplanes, and playing with his grandsons and the family cat, Danzig.
Philip was predeceased by his parents, an infant daughter, Crystal Blair; a sister, Julia Blair; and a brother, Raymond Blair.
Philip is survived by his wife of 35 years, Marion (Rawlins) Blair; a daughter, Amber Blair (Matt Clyne); a son, Specialist Pierre Blair of the Army National Guard and his wife, Autumn (Wells); two grandsons, Remington and Kohlton Blair-Wells; two sisters, Karen (Frank) Mallison, Helen (Mark) Van Diver; three brothers, Garrie (Darlene) Parker Sr., Leo Blair Jr. (Shirley), Keith (Marie) Blair Sr.; eight nieces, his god-daughter; seven nephews; and his mother-in-law, Margaret Rawlins.
Calling hours will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 31, at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette Street, Queensbury.
A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Flossie Gage Bates officiating.
Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Hudson Falls.
A gathering will follow at Hudson Falls VFW.
Philip's family thanks Dr. D. Cunningham, Tower 5 at Glens Falls Hospital, High Peaks Hospice, especially Phil and Tabitha, and their special friend Debbie Root for all the care they gave to Philip.
