QUEENSBURY — Philip John Nadig, 80, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 30, 2026, at his home.
Born February 18, 1946, in Cooperstown, New York, he was the son of the late John and Eileen (Larson) Nadig.
Philip attended Shaker High School, graduating in 1964, and earned his degree from Hudson Valley Community College in 1966. He went on to attend flight school as well as the New York State Police Academy.
In 1972, Philip married the love of his life, Bonnie Birkoff. Together, they built a happy and fulfilling life, raising three daughters, traveling, giving back to their community, and becoming wonderful grandparents to seven grandchildren.
Philip was proud to protect his community during a distinguished 35-year career with the New York State Police, beginning on the road as a trooper with Troop G and concluding his service as a Zone Sergeant in the Aviation Unit.
Philip enjoyed boating, hunting, bowling, traveling with his wife, and cheering on his children and grandchildren in all of their activities. He was a dedicated member of the PBA, the Elks Lodge, the Sons of the American Legion, and Harrisena Community Church.
In addition to his parents, Philip was predeceased by his father- and mother-in-law, Roy and Dorothy Warren.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Bonnie Nadig of Queensbury; his daughters, Nicole MacDermid of Queensbury, Danielle Cooper (Jason) of Hudson, MA, and Andrea Wilson (Mark) of Queensbury; his grandchildren, Madison and Morgan MacDermid, Val and Macey Cooper, and Kyla, Kenzie, and Caleigh Wilson; his sister, Karen Silvernail (Mike) of Florida; his nephews, Mark and Brian Silvernail of Florida; and many dear friends.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Philip’s greatest joy came from the love of his family and friends. He cherished every moment spent together and leaves a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion that will always be remembered.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Anne Evans and her staff for their compassionate care, as well as to the New York State Police for their kindness, professionalism, and support.
