Adirondack - Raffaele “Ralph” Morrone Jr. passed away peacefully in Vermont at the McClure Miller Respite House after a long and courageous fight. It was time for him to rest and be at peace.
Ralph was born December 2, 1942 in Yonkers, New York and was raised in Mamaroneck, New York where he attended Barry Avenue School, Bellows Middle School, and Rye Neck High School. As a young man, Ralph learned the value of hard work early, holding a variety of jobs, including caddying at Winged Foot Golf Club.
He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri before serving two years in the U.S. Army. Ralph then began a successful 26-year career with IBM in White Plains, New York and Franklin Lakes, New Jersey where he held various financial management positions. He later spent another ten years as a financial management consultant supporting several organizations within IBM.
On April 27, 1969, Ralph married Sally, whom he met on a blind date. Together, they built a life and raised their family in Suffern, New York, where they lived for 31 years. In their retirement years, Ralph and Sally divided their time between Englewood, Florida and Adirondack, New York.
Ralph was, in every sense, a good man. He was stubborn in the way only a proud Italian could be, but he was also honest, fair, dependable, and fiercely loyal. Family and friends could always count on him for practical advice, financial wisdom, and a perspective often delivered through one of his many sayings that somehow always seemed to make his point. And while his jokes weren’t always funny, that never stopped him from telling them.
Ralph believed life was meant to be lived. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, boating, playing cards, trips to the casino, and spending time with friends in both Florida and New York. Whether enjoying good food, conversation, or simply the company of those he loved, Ralph knew how to appreciate life’s simple pleasures. Some of his happiest moments were spent around a table with family and friends, enjoying Italian food, seafood, and whatever else was being served. He cherished his favorite traditions—Christmas Eve with the Feast of the Seven Fishes, summers at the lake, a glass of red wine with dinner, a Bloody Mary with ten olives, or his signature margarita.
Ralph was proud of the life he built with Sally. He made plans, followed through on them, and lived life exactly as he wanted—spending his winters in Florida and his summers at the lake. He believed that experiences were life’s greatest treasures and made the most of every opportunity to embrace them. His legacy lives on not only in the stories he told, but in the stories, memories, and traditions his family and friends will continue to carry forward because of him.
Ralph will be remembered for his strength, wisdom, generosity, loyalty, and the countless conversations that somehow always turned into life lessons.
Ralph is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Sally; his children, Michael Morrone (Erica), Susan Morrone, and Jennifer Morrone-Donovan (Shawn); and his cherished grandchildren, Michelle and Jonathan (Michael and Erica's children), Finn, Ayla, and Ethan (Jennifer and Shawn's children). He is also survived by his sister, Ellie Muraca and his niece and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Friday, August 28, 2026, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette Street, Queensbury, New York.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages everyone to honor Ralph's memory by spending time with those you love, sharing a meal, telling a story, playing a round of golf, or simply taking time to enjoy life's everyday moments—just as Ralph always did.
Memorial donations can be made to the McClure Miller Respite House, 1110 Prim Road, Colchester, VT 05446 or online at www.uvmhomehealth.org/give
